What Causes Slow Heart Rate And Lightheadedness?

My husband woke up this morning with a slow heart rate and light headed. It was 42 when he first checked it this morning. It has been in the 40s and few times in the 50s. He has been treated with metropolol ER Succinate 25 mg. 1/2 tablet in the morning. BP has ranged from 135/62 to 92/55. Should we be concerned since he has a slow heart anyway or should we be concerned since he has felt light headed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I will suggest changing the drug metoprolol to amlodipine. You may start with dosage of amlodipine 2.5 mg and then titrate dosage if blood pressure is not brought under control.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
