Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So from time to time, about 6-8 months between episodes usually my heart rate will drop it starts in the low 60 s and goes to 40 s gradualy. Usually lasts a week+ and then goes climbing back. I take Beta Blockers, right now I take 1/2 a 25mg Tablet of Toprol-XL. Obviously you cannot make a specific diagnosis, but from your general knowledge what could be the issue. Underlying conditions. High Blood preasure (usually controlled) - Blocked R. Coronary Art. with bridging collaterals from Left. - Paraxsymal A-Fib - Super high Tryglicerides . (please forgive my spelling errors.
The symptoms you describe are not to be taken lightly as a low HR could be detrimental. a short diffrentials to be considered are: 1) Drug effect due to beta blocker that you are taking 2) Sick sinus syndrome 3) Hypothyroidism 4) Atrial Fibrillation with slow ventricular response
you should immediately consult a cardiologist to get yourself checked for these conditions. He might require certain tests like a Baseline ECG, Holter study, some bloodwork for underactive thyroid and other tests as indicated by him. You might even require a medication review but only with consultation with a doctor.
Dont get panicked by all these. It is better to be safe.
Hope it Helps.
Regards Dr Manish Kumar Jha
