What Causes Slightly Enlarged Papillae On Tongue Of A Child?

My 12 year old son has slightly enlarged papillae on tongue, not painful and no fever, seems well, no allergies, unlikely vitamin deficiency. Is there anything to be concerned about and if so what are likely causes and remedies? Many thanks for advice. Robert.
