What Causes Sleeplessness While On Carbidopa, Mitrazapine And Flexeril?

I have recently been diagnosed with Parkinson s Disease. I am taking Carbidopa/Levodopa without any problems. My doctor added Mirtazipine 30 and Flexoril. I have been taking these at bedtime since the beginning of Feb. All was fine until a few nights ago. For three nights in a row I can t get to sleep although very sleepy. I have never had a problem going to sleep before. I am 61 years old, female. Could any one of these or the combination of any of these meds be causing this? My muscles ache when I get in bed and I flip and flop. I want to get up because my muscles are sore but I am so tired and sleepy I cant. Last night I got up and got in the tub of hot water hoping this would help. But that was very dangerous because I was too weak and light-headed to do that. It did not help me get to sleep either.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Neuro drugs invariably cause sedation and sleepiness. It is more profound during the initial days of usage and improves over time.

If you can’t tolerate the drugs you can consult a neurologist and opt for alternatives.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
