What Causes Skin Tinging And Itching?

is there a drug reaction that causes skin stinging and itching. there is no rash. I ve had the symptom for a number of months, mostly on my arms and legs. I am an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic and am on several medications for hypertension. I am also in stage 2 renal failure. It doesn t seem to be related to dry skin and lotions don t seem to help. Thanks

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of itching and tingling, my treatment advice is:

1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medicine like levocetrizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral steroid, hydroxyzine to be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
