I am a 48 year old female. I have noticed that my hands have started peeling. not just a flake or 2 but like dry blisters and all over the palm of my hand and my fingers and the skin just peels. also my tongue is swollen and my mouth hurts. I am getting headaches from it.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems that you are suffering from an allergic reaction to some substance that you are not aware about.

I would advise you to start antihistamine Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5-7 days. The swelling in the mouth and skin peeling should reduce or disappear with that. If it recurs, you should go for a blood test for allergy to evaluate what substance you are allergic to so that you can avoid the exposure to it in future. For headache and pain otherwise, you can take Acetaminophen 500 mg or Ibuprofen 400 mg thrice a day.

However, if antihistamine does not work, the situation might be due to viral infection or autoimmune disease that should be evaluated and treated. In that case, I advise you to visit a dermatologist and dentist for clinical examination and further investigations.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
