What Causes Sinus Headache And Stiffness In The Jaw?

I ve had a sinus headaches since Friday and missed work yesterday. I m still not feeling great. Earlier today I experienced multiple instances when I felt stiffness in my jaw to the extent that it felt very difficult to open my mouth. This has never happened before and i was wondering what it could be. I had a neck lif in march, but have never had a feeling like this before.

Hi..
Welcome to HCM..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain if you have a sinus head ache it can be due to sinus infection or sinusitis..
For this you should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and will be treated with antibiotics, pain relievers, decongestants, saline nasal irrigation, steam inhalations..

As far as stiffness in jaw that makes you unable to open the mouth can be due to either jaw joint related problems or can be due to muscle spasms..
Consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical examination and also do an
x-ray of the jaw joint to confirm the cause..
You can be advised anti inflammatory painkillers, muscle relaxants and also physiotherapy and warm/ cool compresses depending upon the cause of the tightness of jaw..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
