What Causes Shortness Of Breath, Heaviness In Arms And Dry Mouth?

Hi, My boyfriend is experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, heaviness in his arms, and dry mouth. He says he feels very slightly nauseated but is having no chest pain or chest heaviness. About an hour ago he was working vigorously trying to pull start a chainsaw.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Even with the absence of chest pain, the shortness of breath, especially since combined with excess sweating, should be assessed by a doctor.

This means that he should be seen, examined and investigated. Tests such as a blood test or ECG or CXR may be suggested to assess for a cause. Treatment depends on the cause found.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
