What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Headache Along With Fatigue?

My daughter is 14, has had a history of asthma as a child, but recently it seems to have gotten worse. Especially during sports. Along with shortness of breath, she is experiencing other symptoms such as a headache that doesn t go away for hours, tiredness, redness in face just to name the main ones. She did not take her inhaler yesterday before volleyball camp and experienced these symptoms, after the inhaler she felt better but still complaining of a headache and being tired 24 hours later. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
She may need more than just the short acting inhaler. In moderate to severe asthma, a steroid inhaler is the main treatment and it should be taken every day. The short acting inhalers can be used before sports or as a rescue inhaler if wheezing develops. She needs to see a doctor and have pulmonary function testing done.
