Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Someone I know has been short of breath, fainted and been brought to hospital. This person has suffered two previous strokes. One in the left hemisphere and one in the right. When brought to hospital this time, he told them he didn t have any feeling one of his arms and one of his legs. He was tested for stroke symptoms and when that came back negative his was send for psychiatric evaluation:(
If the patient refers of neurological symptoms but when examined no evidence is found of this (in physical examination or in brain scans) then anxiety is considered as a possible cause and this is why probably they have referred him to a psychiatrist. Patients that have suffered previous attacks that were life threatening may experience anxiety related to them, Anxiety may cause someone to be short of breath and even faint if they breath fast and some patients get numbness in different areas of the body.
He needs to follow the instructions of the doctors and do the proper follow ups.
I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
