What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Ear Pulse With Hypothyroid Medicines?

I have been hypothyrodic for over 35 years and am having a difficult time regulating my dosage lately. Now I'm experiencing shortness of breath during exertion and hearing my pulse constantly in my right ear..is this due to too much or too little medication?

Hello!
The shortness of breath could be due to being overweight ( you have long standing hypothyroidism which has been difficult to control) or due to the development of high blood pressure leading to heart dysfunction. Is your hemoglobin (Hb) normal? Anemia often occurs in uncontrolled hypothyroidism and can also lead to breathlessness on exertion. I would suggest you get your BP checked, get an ECG done along with Hb measurement.
Hearing your pulse in the ear can be due to conductive deafness in the ear as part of your hypothyroid state. It can also be due to high BP which leads to turbulent blood flow in a major artery passing near the ear.
Do let me know if you need further answers.
Best of luck!
