What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Difficulty In Walking While On Amiodarone?

I HAVE BEEN ON THE MEDICATION AMIODARONE FOR 8 YRS OR SO. I CAN NOW HARDLY BREATHE AND CANNOT WALK VERY FAR BEFORE I HAVE TO STOP AND CATCH MY BREATH. ALL MY DOCTORS KNOW I HAVE PROBLEMS BREATHING AND NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE ANSWERS. MY BROTHERS DR. TOOK HIM OFF OF THIS MEDICATION SAYING THE AFFECTS WERE TOO DANGEROUS. WHY HAVE NONE OF MY DRS. Hi,

You are right, one important side effect of is fibrosis of lungs which should always be monitored. If you feel short of breath you must be examined for that. However, it not necessary that shortness of breath should always be because of that. We can check for it. If there are any such side effects we should stop Amiodarone. However, if there is no such sign then we should seek mother causes of your problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
