What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Chest Pains After A Mastectomy?
I had a mastectomy on April 11. I was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pains on Saturday. I went to emergency and had doppler exam and CAT scan-no blood clots. I was put on a prescription of PROAIR HFA (albuterol sulfate) Inhalation aerosol. Used it three times yesterday (none today). I am now having chest burning that radiates to the base of my throat. I am also feeling sluggish. Wondering if it is a side-effect from the inhaler. I have also been doing the breathing exercises using the airlife device.
Based on the history you have shared, your current symptom can be due to acid regurge and that is one of the causes of throat irritation and cough. Using antacids like Omeprazole can be of help too. Meanwhile, continue using Albuterol inhalations and steam inhalations however after using gargles should be done.
If clots suspicion has been cleared, muscular pain or post-surgical pain can also be contributing to the symptoms. OTC analgesic like Acetaminophen can be used as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
