What Causes Short Term Memory Loss After Taking Elmiron?
I have been taking Elimron for about 18 months. I have noticed that my short term memory is getting bad and seems to be getting worse. I m 83 years old and have not had this problem in the past. Is this one of the side affect of the medication. I started taking it after I started passing blood clots and some were blocking my urirnate track and needed to be cathedral. I have been getting better with this problem but still have a likable trouble. Any information would be helpful. Thank you in advance.. My E_MAILis Schwartz4234@ roadrunner.com

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Elmiron is a drug that helps in relieving pain &discomfort in bladder diseases.
It also as a blood thinner to combat blood clots. It does not have a y side effect on brain or memory function.
The short-term memory loss you have seems to be following stress &lack of sleep/excess alcohol/age wise changes in the brain.
Management would be by concentration mind exercises /taking medication from a neuro physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
