What Causes Shooting Pain In The Groin Area?

I am experiencing shooting pain in my groin on my left side. This pain seems to be more apparent by lifting heavy objects and then setting them down. The pain shoots through my left groin causing me a moment when I feel incapable of bearing any weight on my left leg.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
You seem to have groin strain while lifting heavy objects... causing
overstretch or tearing of few muscle fibers -which causes shooting pain in groin.. & injured muscles get painful & tight to make weight bearing or walking difficult. . can get aggravated if the same activity is continued in spite of the pain.... the trouble ranges from a simple muscle pull/ spasm to injury/ tear of few muscle fibers in severe form.
Fortunately you seem to have just a groin muscle strain which can be relieved by home care in few days.( with rest, ice pack on painful muscle mass/ Over the counter tab. Ibuprofen would relieve the severity of pain.
No relief with home care demands consultation to family physician & physical therapist .
Thanks
