What Causes Sharp Testicular Pain?

My husband has been experiencing sharp, shooting testicular pain. When this is not occurring, he is still in pain, but it is a dull ache until the next sharp, shooting pain happens. What would be the possible reasons for this? He has a dr appt to follow up on an er visit for this, but I would like to have an idea of what we could be looking at.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Testicles are very sensitive and even minor injuries may cause pain and discomfort.Testicular pain could be caused by many medical conditions some of which include:
-Testicular torsion
-Infections: epididymitis, orchitis, UTI/kidney stones
-Diabetic neuropathy
-varicocele
-Testicular injury
-Testicular mass
-spermatocele
Just to name a few
With all these possible causes, i will suggest he sees a Doctor for examination and if need be, a testicular ultrasound may be requested. All testicular pains need immediate examination by a Doctor as serious problems that are supposed to be managed immediately like testicular torsion are supposed to be eliminated as soon as possible. He may take pain medications like ibuprofen to relief his pain.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
