What Causes Sharp Shooting Pain Post Extraction Of Wisdom Tooth?
After I had my wisdom teeth removed about a year and a half ago, I noticed more recently when I started using mouthwash again that I would get a sharp shooting pain on what feels like the back part of my mandible. The pain is sudden and does not linger for very long. It only occurs when I swish the mouthwash on the back sides of my mouth. What could this be from?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain pain in the back of jaw especially while gargling with mouthwash can be most probably due to a deeply decayed tooth which has caused nerve exposure and when the mouthwash must be coming in contact with it there must be a bout of severe pain..
As the wisdom tooth is already extracted then it does not seems to be the cause and the pain might be arising from adjacent molars..\
I would therefore suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get a thorough clinical examination done along with x rays to rule put the exact cause of the problem and treatment will be then done accordingly..
As of now you can take anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to relieve pain..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.

What Causes Sharp Shooting Pain Post Extraction Of Wisdom Tooth?
Hi. Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC.. As the wisdom tooth is already extracted then it does not seems to be the cause and the pain might be arising from adjacent molars..\ Another common cause for a bout of shortlasting pain is nerve related pain caused by trigeminal nerve leading to Trigeminal Neuralgia..
