What Causes Sharp Pain The Lower Back On The Left Side?

I have sharp pain that starts in the lower left back around the top of the hip . It is also tender down the left rib cage . This pain radiates into the groin and down the outside of the left hamstring. Pain is also noted on the inside of the left knee cap. At times it is too unbearable to stand or walk . The knee pain was first and I cannot remember doing anything to cause an injury .

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like aceclofenac or tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, better to consult a physician and plan for an MRI scan to rule out possible spine related problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
