What Causes Sharp Pain In Upper Abdomen?

I keep getting a real sharp pain in the upper part of my stomach. This just started 6 days ago and it always happens when I eat or take a drink of anything. It hurts so bad that it takes my breath. The pain starts at the bottom of my throat and proceeds down through & between my chest and ribs. I had Myocardial Infarction done & everything turned out good. Then I spent a week in the hospital because of my lungs. At this time I was put on Oxygen because my level keeps dropping too low in which causes me to pass out ,hear and see things.

Hello,

You have sharp pain in the upper part of your stomach. The pain radiates to the throat, chest and ribs. Your reports and tests for MI is clear. It can occur due to indigestion, gas, and gastritis. peptic ulcer, esophageal ulcer, gastroenteritis, gall stones or bowel obstruction.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all required tests and investigations done like CBC, barium swallow, endoscopy, endoscopic biopsy etc. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. In the meantime, you can take PPIs, to help reduce upper abdominal pain. You can also take antacids, it is helpful.

Avoid taking oily, spicy food, junk food. Avoid taking any thing that triggers your symptoms. Take high fiber diet to prevent constipation. Take home made nutritious food rich in minerals, protein and veggies, fruits, nuts , etc. Avoid all sorts of addictions like smoking, alcohol, drugs, etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
