Hi,
In sharp injury, if the object is not fully removed, there might be remains in the site of injury. Our body's immune system respond to the foreign object and starts the immunological reaction. Immunological reaction is the one in which the
antibodies are produced against the foreign agents. There is swelling, inflammation and redness in the site of injury followed by the cellular response.
If there is infective agents, antibodies are produced. It may take time to subside on its own. If the infection is severe, there may be pus formation,
lymphadenopathy and fever. Wound should be cleaned with antiseptic solution. In mild condition,
topical antibiotic ointment may be advised. Over the counter drugs such as
ibuprofen and
acetaminophen (tylenol) are advised for pain relief.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
