What Causes Sharp Pain In The Thumb And Wrist Area?

I have pain (shooting, starp pain) in my thumb and the whole area up to my wrist. But the pain is mostly in the thumb area. Does that sound like carpal tunnel?? Occasionally, I have the pain in my other fingers, but not nearly as painful as my thumb. pa

Hello.
It could be tendonitis or carpal tunnel, although carpal tunnel usually affects not only the thumb but the index, middle, and one half of the ring finger.

You need to have a doctor examine you and get both an MRI scan of the wrist and hand and nerve conduction studies to determine which it is
