What Causes Sharp Pain In The URQ Of The Abdomen?

My son 22yrs of age has just come home from college for holiday break and has been complaining about a sharp pain at times right around the waist area front left area. He had 1 yr ago an appendix removal no issues from that pt until now. Was feeling either gallbladder or hernia? Mother had gallbladder out 10yrs ago. The pain comes and goes but is there most of the time the last 2 days.

Hello,

The area of abdomen you have mentioned is an area of liver and gallbladder related pains. So we need to rule out hepatitis and other liver pathologies, Gallstones, cholangitis etc.

So better to take him to a doctor and get done a clinical examination and ultrasound examination of the abdomen to rule out these diseases. If ultrasound is normal then the possibility of muscular pain is more likely.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
