Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sharp Pain In Shoulder And Ribs While Breathing?
Everytime i breath in a sharp pain shoots through my right shoulder and the right side ribs im a 19 yr old female i don't have any prior health issues or allergies i don't smoke either if you know any possibilities on what it could be please email me at YYYY@YYYY
I would consider two probabilities in your case 1. Acid peptic disease 2. rib contusion/costochondritis
Acid peptic disease. Other symptoms like nausea, bloating, post food fullness, vomiting may or may be not there. It requires upper Gastrointestinal endoscopy for confirmation. It is not normally picked up by X-ray, CT scan or MRI.
costochondritis pathology is likely, as it would be picked up by CT scan. In my opinion I feel MRI is less likely to reveal any gross pathology I wish you a happy and healthy life. I would be happy to help you if you need any further assistance
Take care
