What Causes Sharp Pain In Lower Back After Doing Exercise And Workout?

Hello, I am a 22 year old female. This afternoon when I bent over (squating) to get something out of the refrigerator, I got a sharp pain in my lower back that shot up my back. The pain has been severe since then. I haven t been able to do anything but rest and apply heat to it. I also took 1 Naproxen this evening, but it hasn t helped at all. Two nights ago, I went to the gym, and under the supervision of a trainer, I lifted some weights, did some squats, ab exercises, etc. which I hadn t done in a while. (I run for exercise.) I felt my back working and when it started getting uncomfortable, I stopped the activity. The next day it didn t hurt at all; I went for a run. And then today, all of a sudden, the onset of pain. Any suggestions?

Hello dear

Thanks for writing to HCM

Two conditions may be there in your case, one is a muscle spasm to due tearing of some muscle fibres in your lower back or the condition may arise from a minor slip disc which has to be evaluated by an x-ray or MRI.
In both the cases you need to consult a Physiotherapy centre for help.

Hope that helps

Thanks
