What Causes Sharp Pain In Elbow Radiating Down The Arm?

I have been having pain in my left arm for about 2 months now. It is in the elbow area. I work in the schools as a cafeteria worker. So I lift heavy pots and pans. Yesturday I thought it might be serious. I couldn t even turn the knob to drain the wells to the serving tables it was horrible pain shooting down my arm. Just trying to find out what it could be that s causing the pain. Anything can help! Thank you!

Hello and welcome.

Depending on your age and sex, we can suspect bone or ligament related issues. An x ray may help to rule out any local factors like arthritis, gout, elevated serum uric acid, etc. And a physical examination by a doctor can help diagnose or rule out any injuries, sprains, tears, etc.

For now, if possible try to avoid lifting heavy objects and give your arm as much rest as possible. Use an elbow elastic bandage and apply ice to the region whenever you are resting. Also the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can help.

Best wishes.
