What Causes Severe Weight Loss?

Hi, I m approaching 76 and in generally good health. However, going thru a very painful divorce (after 25 years) and my body has noticeably lost muscle mass. My forearms, once large (catcher in baseball) are now sagging ; my shoulders are now my breasts; my stomach has shifted to below the belt. I have lost weight (20 pounds) by gained girth. Is exercise the only answer? If so, which will help the most. Oh yes, I have increased my consumption of alcohol since the divorce. I consumer about a 1.75 liter per week. However, I do not eat junk food since I have cooked healthy all my life. What s happening to my body?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, I must advise you to take care of your health across all aspects to avoid getting into a serious medical problem.
First, you have to cut down on the alcohol. Alcohol is empty calories. It does not have energy and severely damages the Liver, which is the powerhouse of the body. Your overall metabolism is getting affected and all your healthy food is going waste with it. I understand that being divorced has affected you, but that doe not mean that you divorce your health by drinking 1.75 Liters of spirits a week. And that at your age of approaching 76, you must not exercise vigorously as well. You must indulge yourself in yoga and meditation to help your overall health.

Take care,
Regards
