What Causes Severe Water Retention In Body?
Hello ive been having trouble with severe water retention, sometimes upwards to 8 pounds over night. I awake with my lower legs and both feet so swollen and tight. I am 44. I am also unable to empty my bladder, I hv to totally concentrate to urinate, bladder spasms only when I lay down. Im worried

thank you for asking your concern and welcome to hcm. from your description it seem as leg edema to me. i would suggest to press on bony area of feet and if it is pitting then it is edema. there are multiple reason for such swelling and you definitely need doctors visit. kidney, liver, heart and abdomen cause may be anywhere and you need a proper evaluation for it. you need to check for diabetes, hypertension also. urine albumin test, serum albumin test, ecg are few investigations which can point to the point of illness and treatment varies according to diagnosis. i would strongly suggest to consult any md medicine doctor.
