What Causes Severe Vertigo?

I just experienced my first episode with vertigo. It was terrible. I ended up going to ER because I couldn t stop gagging, additionally my pulse jumped from 48 to 120. After an MRI it was determined thankfully I had no stroke or brain tumor. I was prescribed a medication, and given 2 IV s to stop the vertigo, nausea and my heart racing in AFib. My question is, is there a way to determine if a vertigo attack is imminent?

Hello,

Check for the cardiac problem causing vertigo seen in arrhythmia or vascular disease etcetera. Other possibilities like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), acute vestibular neuronitis, acute labyrinthitis etcetera. Neuronal causes, postural hypotension may cause vertigo. Please follow with your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
