What Causes Severe Uterine Cramping And Lower Back Pain In Elderly Women?

Hi, I am a 52 year old woman who has not had a menstrual period since I was 46. For the past 4 days I have been experiencing uterine cramping. Today has been the most intense with lower back pain. I am not experiencing any discharge or bleeding. What could be some possible causes for this? Thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Cramps in abdomen could be anything from intestinal cramps to uterine.
As youhave already attained menopause and you said that you didn'thad any discharge or bleeding also, so i feel we can wait for sometime so as it can go on its own.
You can take meftal spas or cyclopam tablet whenever you have pain.
Meanwhile i would suggest you to undergo a ultrasound abdomen study to look for any obvious cause for cramping like fibroid uterus or some other reason.
If it continues you will need a detailed clinical examination for the same by a gynecologist.
I hope i have answered your query well.
Thank you
