What Causes Severe Throat Pain?

Hey my throat started hurting yesterday and over night it had gotten a lot worse. I can't hardly swallow and when I do my ears pop. The pain goes all the way up to my ears and I have a horrible headache. I also do not have a fever. The pain is out the roof!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe throat pain which could be due to lymph node enlargement or granular pharyngitis. Lymph node enlargement is most commonly due to infection or inflammation. Feeling of pain in throat requires a clinical assessment of the throat. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get it examined properly. Till then take proper course of antibiotics to subside infection if any and drink plenty of fluids and water to keep yourself hydrated. A clinical assessment of the inner ear is also essential as the type of pain mentioned by you could be due to compression of nerve around the neck and behind the ear.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
