What Causes Severe Throat Pain?

Hi...I have a pain in my throat since last one week. It feels on both side of the neck and even in center when I try to take in saliva. May I know why is it so? And what can I do to get the relief. During day the pain is not much, but at night when i go to bed, the pain increases.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain severe pain in throat can occur due to a number of causes like throat infection caused by bacteria or virus, post nasal drip, cod reflux etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture, pH levels of throat etc can help in diagnosis and treated accordingly..
You can be advised antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkillers, warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use of humidifier in your room..
Sucking throat lozenges can also help..
In case of acid reflux, Omeprazole, Pantoprazole, Ranitidine and antacids along with dietary modifications can be advised..
As of now do warm saline gargles, suck throat lozenges and take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
