What Causes Severe Throat Pain And Fatigue After Consuming Alcohol?

I went out to a party last night and consumed a little too much alcohol & ended up having a hangover. Today when I woke up I had hangover symptoms. I drank some ginger ale & 2 water bottles. I was fine, then I tried to eat and my throats hurts & it s really difficult for me to swallow food and liquids. Do you know why?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You should always take the amount your body can absorb. You have taken an excessive dose of alcohol that has to cause the epithelial lining of your throat, esophagus & stomach to get inflamed.

Sometimes, this may lead to not only severe throat pain but also vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty in swallowing(esophageal hemorrhage) or cancer.

Visit ER, get your throat examined. You may need antibiotics & anti-inflammatory medicines. Use Listerine water to gargle. For pain, you can take Acetaminophen, one sos when pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
