Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Throat Pain After EUS With Biopsy Of Pancreas?
Yesterday I had an upper endoscopic ultrasound with biopsy of pancreas and cyst. Today I have pain in throat and neck making it impossible to eat except for liquids also with pain. My chest and back hurt bad. Coughing is torture. Am I complaining about completely expected after effects? Doctor gave me Tyenol and chao. Ayyyyy....
As per my clinical experience, the Endoscopic ultrasound is usually performed under local anesthesia or short acting general anesthesia. It is the first option during which one gets intense pain post procedure as the instrumentation with biopsy is itself painful procedure and without adequate sedation, one gets intense pain symptoms. Following measures will help you for better recovery: - Gargles with salted lukewarm water - Prefer liquids in small quantities at intervals - Analgesic injection as Dicloenac or patch of Fentanyl
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
