What Causes Severe Stomach Pain And Cramps After Taking Omnicef For Cold?

I took omnicef last nite for a 2 week cold and after 30 min after taking I had severe stomach and colon cramps was in bathroom every hour all nite now doc just called wants me to take doxycycline and what I read sounds like the same thing I have bad reactions to med I m hard to medicate still having stomach pain when I get up and move around

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain Omniced contain cephalosporin antibiotic Cefdiner and many a times antibiotics can cause stomach upset leading to cramping, diarrhea and vomiting.
It can also cause Gastritis or Acid reflux..
I would suggest you to change the antibiotic as advised by your treating Physician and in case if the similar problem continue atop taking the antibiotic and get evaluated by the physician so that he can give you a minimum possible dose of antibiotic for relief..
You should also start taking Omeprazole or Pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and take antacids half an hour before meals..
Add more Yoghurt to diet..
This will help in relieving the symptoms..
Take Furazolidone for reducing frequency of loosemotions and take a soft and light diet..
