What Causes Severe Pain Upon Movement In The Right Upper Hip Area?

I am having excruciating pain on movement in my right upper hip area. Was xrayed on Friday but no results yet. Have lost 18 lbs in last couple of weeks. Frequent dark urine and diarrhea. No appetite. Difficulty in walking upright. Pain in lying down on right side & raising right leg. I am female, 77 yrs old, in fairly decent health. Taking Losartan 100 mg 100 mg and Atorvastin 80 mg for high blood pressure & cholesterol. Excedrin better than Tramadol for pain relief. Denise N.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Please follow my advise as per your history and tell your local doctor to do like this:

1) Check Stool and Urine [RE/ME]if any abnormality found add medications accordingly.

2) Do Ultrasound examination whole abdomen to ruled out any growth present or not which is very common at this age.

3) Do ESR and RF test to ruled out RA.

4) Check Fasting blood sugar and TSH to ruled out endocrine disorders.

5) Do full blood count with differential to ruled out any infection present.

6) Take BP medications as usual and measure BP every 15 days at home if you have Home BP instrument.

7) Do not take any pain medications without pinpoint of diagnosis.

First do all investigations as said. IF need any help you can follow me,

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
