What Causes Severe Pain On The Left Side Of The Head?

Am having sharp stabbing pain on the left side of my head usually lasts 5 to 45 seconds and comes at irregular intervals. Have been taking a metrology pack and have used Tordol on some occasions. The Tordol is taken after an episode to help with the dull ache.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Very likely the pain you are describing is due to tension headache which is related to muscular spasms. It is generally not dangerous and should respond well to painkillers and rest.
I would advise you to continue to take the painkillers you are using but after food to protect your stomach, you can do some gentle massage of the scalp and have local warm compresses to help with the pain.

If you notice no improvement with these or if you notice any worsening or new symptoms (like neurological symptoms) you will need to see your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
