What Causes Severe Pain In The Upper Extremities After Taking Prolia?

My wife was prescribed Prolia. Within 3 days of taking Prolia, she had all the symptoms of a stroke. All diagnostics, including neurologicals and orthopedics were negative. She know suffers intractable pain in her upper extremites; her hands have atrophied with concomitant loss of strength; she cannot sleep, and no analgesics, either OTC or prescription have reduced the pain. Is there any detox for Prolia? (She took the Prolia in Dec 2016)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Prolia can cause severe extremity pains and stopping the medication is necessary when it happens and then talk to your doctor. If it is more than a few months she has stopped it and the pains are not improving then other causes of the pain should be considered as well.

There is no detox for Prolia but is expected with time the symptoms to settle so please talk to your doctor, have a through examination to try to determine the cause of the pains in her upper extremities.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
