What Causes Severe Pain In The Thighs?

I started running cross country this season. As of Thursday, the only pain I had been feeling was my shin splints, but otherwise, I was fine. However on Thursday, I ran, and during my run deep in my thigh, I started to feel pain. It got worse and worse until when I was almost finished, there was a sharp and achy pain deep in my thigh. Ever since then it has been downhill. When I walk, my right thigh always hurts, and sometimes my knee or my hip will hurt. Today I tried running a slow run again, but I didn t even make it a half mile before I literally could not walk, and had to be picked up by my mom and brought home. When I got home I iced, but my thigh was throbbing and hurt very badly.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I reviewed your query and here is advise.
I think it is due to over exercising.
You should do stretches after exercises each day. You may need a trainer to supervise your exercising and increase it gradually.
Also a physiotherapist can help you do stretches to relieve muscles.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
