What Causes Severe Pain In The Shoulders?

I am having excruciating pain in my shoulders which is worse at night but bad all day. Both shoulders. I have an appt. with an orthopedic (shoulder specialist) tomorrow. Is this the best person to see? my regular doctor tested me for RA. Both tests negative.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Shoulder pain could be caused by many medical conditions among which are shoulder osteoarthritis, stress/strain, cervical osteoarthritis, cervical neuropathy....An orthopedist may help you find solution to your problem.Just meet him for evaluation.Treatment options for such pain however include: different lines of pain drugs depending on pain intensity, myorelaxants, steroid shots ocassionally, physiotherapy or sugery.
Just see the Orthopedist for examination and best treatment options.
Hope this will help you
Wish you good health
