What Causes Severe Pain In The Left Leg?

My name is Sandra. My left leg has had (in the calf) a very sharp pin prick pain for 2 days. It is not always hurting just when I think it is not going to happen it hurts again. Maybe 15 times a day. This afternoon my left leg was swollen and a black and blue appeared where it hurt. Any possibility of a clot?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

It's good that you are alert about your health and using this site for your query

As per history provided here you have swollen calf and pain present

So don't ignore this condition

It could be deep vein thrombosis... Your physical examination done and Homan sign eliciated if present

Colour doppler like investigation useful for this

If clot present low molecular weight heparin or oral anticoagulant therapy needed

Take care

Hope this will help

Consult physician for examination
