What Causes Severe Pain In The Hip And Upper Leg?

Several months ago, I began having pretty bad, very regular hip pain, that increases each time I sleep on it. At this point, for the last several days, It s gotten so not only does my hip hurt (mostly when moving, but at times even when stationary), but the muscles in my upper leg (primarily on the back, but some on the front, too) feel tender, like they re bruised, only there s no bruising and I can t think of anything I ve done to stress them. Are these things likely related? I have had gout in my right toe, but not for over 2 years now, and it doesn t appear to be flaring.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hello,

As you had a history of gout in the past, I will request to undergo the uric acid test one. As there may be other pathologies associated directly or indirectly a multi-disciplinary team approach is always good.

The symptoms sound more of the nerve entrapment to me, but with having an orthopedist examination and maybe an MRI post it will be of use to understand the pathology of soft tissue and guide accordingly.

Mainly when the muscles become weaker, it is advised to undergo a team approach plan, where a physiotherapist will come into the role to help you out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
