What Causes Severe Pain In The Gums After Wisdom Teeth Extraction?

I had my wisdom teeth removed exactly a week ago and was not experiencing much pain on the right side... today I was finally able to chew using both sides (left was extremely painful) now that I started to eat food pushed my gum down from my molars and the gum is no longer attached to my molars and is causing pain.. should I contact my dentist?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

It looks like the gum is detached as it is just one week of extraction and the extraction site is only healed initially..

There is also a possibility that there is loss of blood clot from the site of extraction leading to unhealed socket which is a common cause of pain and detached gum

Yes, you should consult your Dentist and get evaluated..
In case of dry socket you will be given a sedative dressing that will relieve pain and heal the area..
Along with it antibiotics and painkillers will also be given to prevent infection and pain..

Hope you get better soon..

Regards..
