What Causes Severe Pain In The Foot?

My right foot hurts on the outer edge. It s especially painful upon standing. I am flatfooted. It s impossible for me to stand for long periods of time. I ve suffered from this since my teenage years, I am 51 years old now. It seems to be getting worse with age.

Hi and Welcome to Healthcaremagic,

I understand your concern regarding the foot pain. You had mentioned that you have flat foot , the pain in the outer aspect of foot is due to the bones in the leg bearing excess pressure more than what they can bear especially as the bones age. You will require painkillers for a few days and also heat therapy. The long term solution is a change in footwear with adequate padding to maintain the arch of the foot and thick sole to have needed spring action during walking. I would recommend you to consult an orthopedician and physiotherapist for comprehensive care.

I will be happy to answer any further queries. Take care.
