What Causes Severe Pain In The Back?

My husband is 72 years old. He is having a pain in his back that comes and goes....not a sharp pain, but is slowly throbbing. Feels sick to his stomach, diarrhea, and a fast heart rate. His Fit Bit says 112 beats per minute. Has diabetes controlled with Metformin, and has high blood pressure.

Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Do a clinical examination by your treating Doctor[gastroenterologist]and do few investigations to confirm diagnosis[Stool Exam, CBC and Capsule endoscopy]

2)Discuss with your Doctor about preventive antibiotics like [ciprofloxacin and metronidazole]to control diarrhea and take other prescribed medication after endoscopy reports only.

Do follow few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Try to limit dairy products and use an OTC enzyme product such as [Lactaid].

2)Try low-fat foods and avoid butter, margarine, cream sauces and fried foods.

3)Try to avoid high fiber in diets like cabbage family, such as broccoli and cauliflower, nuts, seeds, corn, and popcorn etc

4)Avoid other problem foods like Spicy foods, alcohol and caffeine etc

5)Try to eat small meals and eat frequently.

6)Drink plenty of liquids and discuss with your Doctor about a regular multivitamin caps.

7)Try to avoid smoking and do yoga and meditation to control stress.

Hope that helps
