What Causes Severe Pain In The Back After An Abortion?
My fiance tried aborting on Cytotec last week and it didn t work out for her ( she was in the 5th week of pregnancy ) . She had an abortion by vacuum on Saturday 8th of October afternoon, she did put out some blood on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. The problem is that she is suffering from a sever back ache , can you please inform me if this is normal after such operation? The bleeding has stopped almost completely . When should her menstrual period get back ? the last period she had was on the 25th of august.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hello,
Back pain is common after abortion for a few days. You should take rest for a few days. Menstruation is delayed for a few weeks after abortion and as a rule, pregnancy should be avoided for 3 months after the abortion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Varinder Joshi , General & Family Physician
