What Causes Severe Pain In Head And Neck With Swollen Glands In Neck?

Hello, I'm having lots of pain in my head and neck. It started later in the day Thursday with just swollen glands on the side of my neck up by my ears, later that night after resting a bit my whole head and neck was extremely stiff and painful to move. Pretty much all my glands are swollen in my neck are all over back and front. My throat itself is not sore and there is no sign of redness or white patches or swelling. I've had strep throat a bunch before and this just doesn't feel the same or look like the same. What's weird tho is I can swallow perfectly fine until I use the muscles in my neck to help push it down I then have pain in the back of my throat further down where you can't see. My ears are often aching as well. I had a fever yesterday but it has dropped and is normal now. I have no runny or stuffed nose, no cough at all and I'm not really mucusey, I also am not sneezing. I've been using benylin extra strength all in one cold and flu which has been helping a bit but my head and neck still ache like no tomorrow. Could you please advise? I am currently not taking or on any other medications.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain it seems like Viral infection leading to the symptoms of pain in head and neck and also swollen glands and fever..
You should take a short course of antibiotics like Azithromycin or Levofloxacin, take tylenol for fever and Ibuprofen for body aches, headache and neck pain..
Do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
Sip on plenty of warm fluids and chew vitamin C pellet..
In case if you have congestion take decongestants oral as well as nasal like Phenylephrine..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
