What Causes Severe Pain In Feet And Calves Upon Weaning Off Of Oxycodone?

I stopped taking oxycodone because I was severely constipated -- only use to take 1 capsule at bedtime. Upon stopping this medication, I ve suffered nearly unbearable pain in my feet, toes and calves -- a constant tingling, pins and needles, etc. My arms are affected too though not as intense. It takes me hours to fall asleep. What should I do?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain in feet and calves upon weaning off of Oxycodone . Well there can be many reasons for symptome you mention in query like achilles tendinitis , bone spurs , bursitis , diabetic neuropathy , gout , osteoarthritis , plantar fasciitis and tendinitis . It can also occur due to withdrawal effect of oxycodone , so also discuss this with doctor .For now give your feet proper rest , put your feet in hot water tub with one spoon salt in it , do gentle massage with flax seed oil and avoid wearing high heels try to wear sport shoes . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order X-ray , CT scan and blood test. Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , vitamin supplement and physical therapy . Consult neurologist for nerve pain .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
