What Causes Severe Pain And Swelling Around A Cardiac Catherization Site?

My wife just had a heart catherization o the left side of her heart to check for leakage at the tricuspid valve. The procedure was done 2 days ago. She came home from the hospital today and is having swelling and excruciating pain in the immediate area around the entry site where the instrument was inserted in her upper right leg near the groin. Is this pain normal or could there be some kind of a blood clot that has formed at the site causing tune pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
In my opinion you could do hot fomentation to relieve the pain and if any haematoma will also be relieved in a short time span. You are advised to take pain killer like paracetamol and yes I do suggest you to go to doctor personallyand let him assess the swollen area. Hope my answer benefitted you.
