What Causes Severe Pain And Burning Sensation In Both Feet?

I have recently repeatedly been woken up in the middle of the night with severe pain in both feet. burning on the bottom of my feet. squeezing pain and redness where there would be a bunion. it disappears only to come back. felt better after staying in bed a few days. i am chronic pain patient with failed back syndrome. never had burning or squeezing in feet before. dr has advised me to see a podiatrist and have an emg with a neurologist.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain and burning sensation in both feet. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like athlete's foot , chronic kidney disease , diabetic neuropathy , hypothyroidism , vitamin deficiency , neuralgia , pernicious anemia is a vitamin B12 deficiency or anemia . I ould suggest you to consult general practitioner for proper examination. Doctor may order certain test like blood test , thyroid test along with taking history and physical examination . Doctor may prescribe multivitamin supplement containing vitamin B12 and iron . Doctor may refer you to endocrinologist for diabetes and thyroid problem or to neurologist for neuropathy .
