What Causes Severe Pain Above The Breasts While Sneezing And Coughing?

A week ago I was crossing a shallow river and when I was close to the edge I slipped and hit a rock between and slightly above my breasts. Immediately I thought I broke a rib. Then I realized I could breathe ok. I have excruciating pain when I sneeze or cough and hurts more in the morning and night. Pain at other times also. Pain on sternum with touch (even when wearing a necklace). There is no visible bruise.

Here according to history you are having musculoskeletal pain....
It could be muscular strain also ....

Rib fractures has to be ruled out x ray and in that case ribs are tender to touch ....

Following are some advise for such case. ....
1.Avoid strenous work
2.Avoid straining at stool and excess cough
3.Avoid movement that cause pain.
4.Take ibuprofen 200 mg tablet twice daily for five days
5.Hot compress useful
6.Avoid bad posture while sleeping
7.If rib fracture there than compression bandage needed
